Thomas “Tom” Lee Robbins

Loving Son, Brother, Uncle, & Friend -

Thomas “Tom” Lee Robbins, age 50, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Williamsport, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017.  Tom was born on Wednesday, June 14, 1967 in Williamsport to Joan Marie (Haddix) Robbins and the late James L. Robbins.

Tom’s survivors include his mother, Joan M. Robbins of Mechanicsburg; his brother, Dennis L. Robbins and his wife, Tracy, of Harrisburg; his niece; and his three nephews.

Tom graduated from Williamsport Area High School as part of the class of 1985 and he attended Bloomsburg University.  He worked for DLA Installation Support Distribution in New Cumberland since 2009 as a civilian employee.  Tom was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and he attended church locally in Mechanicsburg.  He was musically talented from a young age where he learned to play the violin and it led him to play in the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra for a couple years following high school.  Tom taught himself how to play guitar and he shared those skills as a mentor to those who wanted to learn as well.

He enjoyed volunteering his time to help others.  Tom helped part-time with the visually impaired at the Blind Association in Williamsport and he was self-taught in American Sign Language.  In 1987, Tom went on a mission trip with his church to Brazil for two years.  He visited Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro where he learned how to speak Portuguese.  Tom had a big heart and caring personality that was seen through his love of animals.  He had many friends and was the jokester in group who always had everyone laughing.  Most importantly, Tom found great joy in the time that he spent with his family, especially his niece and nephews.

All are welcome to join Tom’s family at his celebration of life on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 216 Skyline Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.  Cremation was private.

Tom’s family has entrusted his care to Myers – Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory in Mechanicsburg, (717) 766-3421.  Read Tom’s full obituary and sign his official guest book at Buhrig.com.

I jist wanted to express how sorry I am for this terrible loss. I just couldn't wrap my mind around this when I got the news, still can't believe that he is gone. What a tragic loss of a life this is. We don't understand why these things happen but God is in the midst of all this and He has plans that noone could ever understand. I pray he is at peace now.

We lost a good one. Tom will be greatly missed. He loved his job and served our soldiers like a true patriot. It was a pleasure to have known him. He was a patriarch of kindness for everyone who he worked with. He loved his family and animals. Heaven has gained another Saint.
