Grateful to God for the gift of Leston in this journey of life. Leston's eyes of wonder were contagious when it came to how he shared about fishing, eating, observing nature, riding his scooter, lending a helping hand to a child, and re-telling some key faith experiences in his life. Leston could teach this world a thing or two - mighty big things -- about friendship: grace, empathy, and commitment. Once you were Leston's friend, you had a friend for life. Thank you God for your gift in this man.

To all the family and friends: Leston was a great friend. We met when i was 9 years old. my grandmother had hired him to pull some weeds and i was visiting her for a week. the next day he rode a pony to grandma's and we became fast friends, as i was horse-crazy. after i left my grandma's, Leston and i began corresponding by letters in what would become a 47 year friendship. in all those years, i only saw Leston about 10 times as he would move, or i would move, and i was always working. but Leston never let our friendship slide. he would call or write and i was always happy to hear from him. very few people in this life have the kind of loyalty he showed me. he loved telling me stories and always asked about my family. he was a friend who truly cared. i will miss him very much. i will cherish his voicemail messages for years to come. please accept my sincere condolences at his passing.

I hated to hear about the passing of Leston McBrayer. I had the pleasure of briefly working with Leston back in the mid 70's in Gadsden, Al. He was great person to work with and deeply cared about the job he did.
