Richard Carlton Alexander

A Kind and Generous Man -

Richard Carlton Alexander, age 75, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 14, 2017.  Richard was born on Saturday, November 29, 1941 in Mechanicsburg to the late James Grover Alexander and Mary E.C. (Ritter) Alexander.  In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his two brothers: Ray Alexander, Charles Alexander; and his sister, Delores Alexander.

Richard’s survivors include his four children: Melinda “Lindy” Biggs and her husband, Mark, of Mechanicsburg, PA and their daughter, Jennifer and her husband, Gregg, and their children: Jax, Kyler, and Arya, Richard Alexander and his significant other, Kathy, of Selbyville, DE, Nathan “Nate” Alexander of Harrisburg, PA, Damien Alexander and his wife, Dana, and their daughter, Delanie, of Mechanicsburg, PA; his two sisters: Gail LeVan and her husband, Robert, of Mechanicsburg, PA, Karen Watson of Mt. Holly Springs, PA; his former spouse and good friend, Carole Anne (Stone) Anderson of Boiling Springs, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

Richard graduated from Lemoyne High School and he was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps.  He retired from Lambert & Intreri, Inc., after almost 30 years of service working as a carpenter.  Richard was good at his trade and he often shared his skills with his sons whenever there was a construction job to be done.  He was a simple man who was content spending his time at home watching his lineup of shows on television or his two favorite teams, the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Phillies, play.  Richard liked being outside where he did a countless number of activities with his granddaughters.  He cherished the time spent with his family, especially visiting his son at the beach and going to the Hollywood Casino with his sister, Gail.  Richard will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit.

All are welcome to join Richard’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Saturday, October 21, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George Spangler officiating.  Full military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard immediately following the service.  Cremation was private.

My deepest condolences to my co-worker and dear friend Lindy (Linn), and all family and friends of her father, Richard. Richard and I never met but I had the privilege of hearing Linn speak lovingly and positively about her father frequently. He clearly was a good, kind and dedicated man that will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved him.
