Mereta Josephine (Bushman) Eroh

A Genuinely Good-Hearted Person -

Mereta Josephine (Bushman) Eroh, age 90, of Carlisle, and formerly of Bethany Towers in Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully while being comforted by her loving family on Tuesday, October 17, 2017.  Mereta was born on Saturday, January 15, 1927 in Pollock, MO to the late Elmer Daniels and Nora (Campbell) Bushman.  Mereta was the widow of Charles H. Eroh, whom she married on December 8, 1943, and who died on September 19, 2003.  In addition to her parents and husband, Mereta is preceded in death by her father who raised her, William Bushman; her brother, Floyd Daniels; and her sister, Beaulah Daniels.

Mereta’s survivors include her three daughters: Charlet “Charlie” Lafferty and her husband, Hugh L., of Dover, DE, Janet Noaker and her husband, Randy, of Carlisle, PA, Lynn Miller and her husband, Denny, of Mechanicsburg, PA; and her six grandchildren: Rob Holland of Delaware, Jennifer Kearney and her husband, Bob, and their son, Aidan, of Chester, PA, Kara Gehman and her husband, Joel, and their children: Noah and Lucy, of Edmonton in Alberta, Canada, Ashlie Setcavage and her husband, Todd, and their children: Nolan and Peyton, of Seattle, WA, Jeremy Miller and his wife, Nikki, and their children: Brynlee and Jovie, of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Chris Miller of Mechanicsburg, PA.

Mereta retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry in Harrisburg, after 15 years of service working as a secretary.  She was a long-time member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg.  Mereta saw life as an adventure that she took every moment to explore.  She and her husband, Charles, traveled throughout the United States and lived in many locations.  One of Mereta’s favorite places was the beach and she loved walking along the shoreline where she could take in everything around her.  She was an avid reader and loved doing crossword puzzles.  Mereta also enjoyed crocheting and doing needlepoint; she created afghans and ensured that everyone in her family had one of their own.  She was a great cook who delighted in baking and always made dessert; Mereta was sure to have dessert with every meal.  The most important thing to her was family.  She put them first and loved them so dearly.  Mereta was a genuinely good-hearted, giving, uplifting, and unselfish person.  She always saw the cup as half full and never complained while constantly maintaining a positive attitude.

All are welcome to join Mereta’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Sunday, October 22, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until time of service at 5:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George A. Dear Mereta's Family, I'll always remember growing up across the alley in Wormleysburg, and having such good friends to "play" with. I remember playing in the orchestra with your Dad as director at St. Paul's Church, and always those good desserts that your Mom would always have around. Your family holds a special place in my heart, and my condolences go out to you on the lose of your Mother. Prayers and special thoughts being sent your way!
