John Patrick Harhi

Beloved Son & Brother -

John Patrick Harhi, age 46, of Mechanicsburg, went home to be with his Lord and family on Friday, December 1, 2017.  John was born on Monday, March 29, 1971 in Camp Hill to Patricia Ann (Coyle) Zinn and the late John Harhi.  In addition to his father, John is preceded in death by his aunt and six uncles.

John’s survivors include his mother, Patricia “Pat” Ann Zinn and her husband, John, of Mechanicsburg; his brother, Christopher Harhi of Lone Pine, CA; his step-brother, Mikel Zinn of Harrisburg; and his step-sister, Angela Zinn and her two children: Lucius and Ariel, of Harrisburg.

John graduated from Cedar Cliff High School as part of the class of 1989 and he completed the medical assistant certificate program at CLA.  He attended Cornerstone Fellowship Assembly of God in Wormleysburg.  John worked for Renzenberger, Inc. as a transport driver for six years in Harrisburg and Mechanicsburg.  He liked watching sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees.  John also enjoyed riding dirt bikes, hiking, walking, and sitting back while listening to his favorite music.  He loved the beach and going to Ocean City, NJ, which he often did each year with a group from his church.  John was a dog lover and had a soft spot for his mom’s dogs, Molly and Midnight; he spent a great deal of time walking and playing with them.  He looked forward to indulging in his mom’s cooking and John always complimented her on the wonderful job she did.  John was a happy-go-lucky and caring person who will be missed for his carefree spirit.

All are welcome to join John’s family at his visitation on Friday, December 8, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George Spangler officiating.  John’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the café next to Myers – Buhrig immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in celebration of John’s life can be made to The Compassionate Friends, P.O. Box 3696, Oak Brook, IL, 60522-3696, www.CompassionateFriends.org.

I was so sorry to hear of John's passing, I had just seen him last week.

I met John years ago in the young adults group at Christian Life Assembly; and remember one retreat in particular - a spring trip to Ocean City, Maryland, where he was the first person to dive into the icy cold ocean! (I know I have a picture of him from that trip somewhere - him absolutely soaking wet!)

I always greeted him by shouting out his full name, and he would grin a kind of shy smile.

I am so terribly sorry for your loss, and can only imagine your pain. Praying for you as you walk through this journey.

To The Harhi Family,

I am truly sorry for your loss of John. This is Mr. T.J. Murray, a former resident of Windsor Park, and I have a few memories of John during our youth: We were co-workers at the Bethany Village kitchen in 1988 and in the mid-1980's we both had newspaper routes. One time, in the summer of 1985, he looked in the phone book and phoned me on my sister Laura's listed landline, to ask me a question about my newspaper route-funny! John was an interesting character to know during my youth and he did become an upstanding man, as your obit tells the story. R.I.P. John and may God bless and comfort the Harhi family during this time of loss. Peace.

Sincerely-Mr. T.J. Murray

We are very sad to hear of John's passing. Both me and my wife really liked John. John was a good friend. He was a man without guile in most respects and I hope to see Him again in the City of God.
