Loving, Giving and Unselfish -

Betty Louise (Hoover) Eckert, age 83, of the Wertzville-Enola area, went Home to be with her Lord peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2018 just four days before her husband of 66 years, Lester Lee Eckert, joined her in heaven’s glory.  Betty was born on Saturday, September 29, 1934 in Franklintown to the late Charles E. Hoover and Evelyn K. (Reaser) Hoover.  In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her brother, Charles Hoover; and her two sisters: Joan Zerbe and Shirley Newcomb.

Betty’s survivors include her four children: Linda L. Bragg and her husband, Calvin, of Portage, MI, Lester E. Eckert and his wife, Gayle, of Carlisle, David R. Eckert of Dillsburg, John R. Eckert and his fiancé, Michelle, of Dover; her ten grandchildren: Calvin Bragg, Jr. and his four children: Andrew, Morgan, Noah, and Ryan, of Michigan, Corrine Meissner and her husband, Aaron, and their children: Josiah, Elise, and Addison, of Wisconsin, Neal Eckert and his wife, Calle, and their children: Selah, Abby, Grace Anne, Chloe, Zion, Elijah, and Mercy Dawn, of Michigan, Lisa Folkerts and her husband, Matthew, and their children: Lexi, Tyler, and Jordan, of New Jersey, Jason Eckert and his wife, Erin, of Etters, David Eckert of York, Andrew Eckert and his wife, Brooke, and their children: Jaeden, Jayme, Jordyn, and Joseph, of Mechanicsburg, Joshua Eckert and his daughter, Ava, of Dillsburg, John Eckert and his wife, Winter, and their children: Sayde, Sophia, and Cecilia, of Marysville, Krista Lehman and her husband, Matt, and their son, Maklan, of North Carolina; her sister, Janet Jamieson of Riverside, CA; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved canine companion, Molly the Pomeranian.

Betty retired from the Book of the Month Club in Mechanicsburg, after many years of service working as a package handler.  After her retirement, she worked at Wal-Mart as a greeter for a few years.  She was a member of West Shore Church of the Brethren in Enola for nearly 20 years.  Betty was very social; she loved to talk to people and go places as well as do things with her friends.  Her pride and joy was held in her home where she enjoyed cooking for and entertaining guests.  Betty always looked forward to sitting down with her family for meals around the big table in her dining room.  She loved her husband, Lester, so very dearly and the two were inseparable since the day they wed.  Betty was a very loving, giving, and unselfish person who cared so deeply for all her kids, their spouses, her grandkids, and great-grandkids; she will be truly missed.
