A Full Measure Man -
Charles “Charlie” Ray Dull, age 76, of Mechanicsburg, peacefully graduated from life to eternal life as he held hands with his beloved wife on Sunday, June 11, 2017. Charlie was born on Sunday, December 8, 1940 in Windber, PA to the late Howard William Dull and Elsie Romaine (Knavel) Dull.
Charlie’s survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Emily “Janie” Jane (Emerick) Dull; his three children: Kim Snowden and her husband, Joe, of Mechanicsburg, Jen Hundertmark and her husband, Glenn, of Butler, Greg Dull and his wife, Terri, of Winter Garden, FL; his seven grandchildren: Nathan, Adam, Emma, Anna, Becca, Caleb, Gracie; his two bonus grandchildren: Jordan, and Aydan; his great-grandson, Everett; his brother, Dr. Edwin Dull and his wife, Maggie, of Somerset; and several nieces and nephews.
Charlie graduated from Shade Central City High School as part of the class of 1958. He attended the main campus of The Pennsylvania State University for both his undergraduate and graduate degrees and in 1965 Charlie graduated with his Master’s Degree in Agricultural Economics. He retired as the director of member benefits from the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau in Camp Hill on March 12, 2004 after more than 28 years of service. Shortly after retirement, Charlie returned to the Bureau to continue his service as a part-time sales consultant and also worked for Asgrow Seed Company as a regional manager for 14 years. Charlie was a long-time and active member of the Mechanicsburg Church of the Brethren where he served in various leadership roles over the years. His faith and church activity was a very important and rich part of Charlie’s life.
Charlie served as ombudsman for the Area Agency on Aging and a golf outing volunteer for the Mechanicsburg Museum Association. Charlie lived to golf and he looked forward to the time he spent with his golf buddies. He enjoyed the relaxation and competition of golfing so much that he spent every Monday and Thursday at either Range End Golf Club in Dillsburg or Mayapple Golf Course in Carlisle. Most importantly, Charlie was extremely proud of his family and he found great joy in spending time with them. All of his family, friends, and golf buddies will miss him dearly.
All are welcome to join Charlie’s family at his viewing on Friday, June 16, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 and on Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. with his service starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Mechanicsburg Church of the Brethren, 301 Gale Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Del Keeney officiating. Charlie’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship to be held at his church immediately following the service. Honored to be pallbearers are Nathan Harris, Adam Harris, Emma Hundertmark, Anna Hundertmark, Becca Hundertmark, Caleb Dull, and Gracie Dull. Cremation and interment will be private.
