Sarah Jane (Dietz) Hoffman
Loved to Care for Others -
Sarah Jane (Dietz) Hoffman, age 65, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at home peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. Sarah was born on Monday, October 20, 1952 in Carlisle to the late Harvey Clayton Dietz and Marie Anna (Monismith) Dietz. Sarah was the widow of Donald “Don” Alvin Hoffman, whom she married on May 24, 1997, and who died on November 28, 2013. In addition to her parents and husband, Sarah is preceded in death by her two uncles: Harry and Leroy Dietz.
Sarah’s survivors include her two children: Daniel “Tike” Wenrich, Jr. and his wife, Renee, and their children: Colton, Shelby, and Galen, of Duncannon, Sharon Weakland and her husband, Mark, and their two children: Haley and Lindsay, of Carlisle.
Sarah grew up and lived on a farm before she moved to Mechanicsburg to the home she helped build where she was able to comfortably spend the last 20 years. She enjoyed decorating her home for all of the holidays every year. Sarah’s family recalled how she would go all out with her decorations, which always involved filling every window with stickers and putting up two Christmas trees - one in the front living room and the other in the back family room. Sharon would always take care of the outside while Sarah stayed indoors, but not without poking her head out the door every once in awhile to see how her daughter was making out with the decorating.
Sarah’s true passion was caring for others. She spent some time working as a nurse’s aid at Blue Ridge Haven West in Camp Hill, where her love of helping others truly flourished. Sarah also held a special place in her heart for her four dogs: Bailey, Uppie, Tig, and Tucker. She loved to take care of all of them, even though her home could be a little chaotic with Bailey, the Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix, and her adopted granddog, Tucker the Bichon/Chihuahua mix, keeping Sarah very busy. Her dachshunds, Uppie and Tig, who lived to be 19 years of age just recently passed away only a few months apart from one another. This loss absolutely devastated Sarah but it is without a doubt that Uppie and Tig greeted her with wagging tails at the Rainbow Bridge. Sarah was also known for her free-spirit and independent thinking which made her a very opinionated woman who was not afraid to speak her mind.
All are welcome to join Sarah’s family at her viewing on Monday, November 6, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Gregory L.
