Shirley “Shirl” Ann Sanno
Lived Life on Her Own Terms -
Shirley “Shirl” Ann Sanno, age 82, of Mechanicsburg, joined her family circle in Heaven on Monday, December 23, 2019. Shirl was born on Friday, April 23, 1937 in Lemoyne to the late Samuel Millis Sanno and Anna Catherine (Jumper) Sanno. In addition to her parents, Shirl is preceded in death by her five siblings: Howard Sanno, Pauline Wolf, Roy Sanno, Alberta Welch, and Lester “Sunny” Sanno.
Shirl’s survivors include her nephew, Samuel “Sam” Millis Welch and his wife, Suzanne, of New Cumberland; her two nieces: Geraldine “Gerry” Davis of Harrisburg and Brenda; and her great-niece, Ashley Welch of New Cumberland.
Shirl graduated from Mechanicsburg High School. She was quite the force of nature with her strong will and drive to live life on her own terms. Shirl always did things her way and was quite the character, which was seen through her spunkiness as a young girl. She loved to go for walks and spend time with her family. Shirl’s family was very close-knit and they always had each other’s backs. All of them are going to miss her presence immensely.
All are welcome to join Shirl’s family at her viewing on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant Patti Vogl officiating. Burial will follow in Slate Hill Cemetery in Camp Hill.
