Susan Elizabeth Woods

Susan Elizabeth Woods, age 61, of Mechanicsburg, PA, and formerly of Lewistown, PA, Baltimore, MD, and Annapolis, MD, passed away at Carolyn’s House, on Tuesday, August 21, 2018.  Susan was born on Friday, December 28, 1956 in Lewistown, PA to the late Stuart M. Woods and Ada Elizabeth (Krause) Woods.  In addition to her parents, Susan is preceded in death by her brother, Stuart R. Woods.

Susan’s survivors include her brother, Bryan David Woods, of Lewistown, PA; her beloved Siamese cat, Lucy; and many dear friends.

Susan graduated from Lewistown High School as part of the class of 1974 and from Penn State University in 1979 with a degree in General Agriculture and Journalism.  She had more than 25 years of experience in media and public relations, with particular emphasis in state government public affairs and advocacy issue outreach.  Susan started working for the state of Pennsylvania as an information specialist in 1985 for the Department of Environmental Resources.  She went onto work as a Special Assistant and Deputy Press Secretary for Governor Bob Casey.  Susan also worked as Deputy Director of Communications for Governor Ed Rendell.  From 1996 to 2003, while a republican occupied the Governor’s Mansion, Susan worked for the State of Maryland as the Director of Communications for the Department of the Environment and the Director of Public Events for Governor Parris Glendening.  At the time of her death Susan was Press Secretary for Pennsylvania Auditor General Eugene DePasquale.

All are welcome to join Susan’s friends at her Celebration of Life service at 1:00 p.m. at the Pennsylvania State Capitol East Wing on Saturday, September 8, 2018.  Please use the East Wing entrance.  Cremation was private.
