Aimeé Darlene (Bretz) Swank

July 17, 1966 — September 6, 2023

Mechanicsburg

Aimeé Darlene (Bretz) Swank, age 57, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.  Aimeé was born on Sunday, July 17, 1966 in Harrisburg to the late Renold Eugene Bretz and Pamela Lynn (Hunsinger) Bretz.  Aimeé was the widow of Charles “Charlie” Joseph Swank Jr, whom she married on September 16, 1989, and who died on October 21, 2020.  In addition to her parents and husband, Aimeé is preceded in death by her beloved canine companion: Trixie.

Aimeé’s survivors include her two daughters: Samantha Rachel Skander and her husband, Ahmed, of Mechanicsburg; Nicole Ashley Swank and her significant other, Michael, of Mechanicsburg; her three grandchildren: Aliyah Swank, Amir Skander, and Maher Skander; her brother: James Eugene Bretz and his wife, Karole, of Duncanon; and her beloved feline companion: Cleo.

Aimeé graduated from Bible Baptist School as part of the class of 1984. She devoted 40 years of her life to her first and only job at Classic Drycleaners. Starting as a part-time employee, she ended her career as Operations Manager as well as a beloved colleague by all. Working at Classic Drycleaners had shaped her life in other ways. It was where she met the love of her life Charles Swank Jr. Aimeé also made many life-long friendships through her work.

One of Aimeé's favorite things to do was travel with family and friends. Chincoteague Island, VA held a special place in her heart. She started by going as a child with her parents and continued the tradition with both her children and grandchildren. Aimeé also loved to travel the world, often with her long-time friend Julie Malick. In addition to traveling, she loved music. In her own words, she was a "child of the 80's". Her all-time favorite band was Depeche Mode, once seeing them 3 times in one week.

Anyone close to Aimeé could tell you that purple was her favorite color. A regal choice for a woman often referred to as "The Queen" by both her husband and many friends. Aimeé will be remembered for her vibrant personality and carefree attitude. Even though her star has faded, she continues to shine down on all that she loved.
