Betty Gayle (Kent) Motley

Betty “Gayle” Gayle (Kent) Motley, age 78, of Mechanicsburg, PA, formerly of Richmond, VA and Maple Grove, MN, died on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Gayle was born on Saturday, May 8, 1948, in Oldhams, VA to the late John James Kent and Elizabeth Sedonia (Headley) Kent. Gayle was the widow of Vann Peyton Motley Jr, to whom she was married for 51 years, and who died on March 31, 2026.

Gayle's survivors include her three children: Trevor Motley and his wife Juliana of Mechanicsburg, PA, Robbyne Henry and her husband Francis of Manassas, VA, Megan Kanozik and her husband Anthony of Maple Grove, MN; her seven grandchildren: Emma Motley, Mark Sayer, Luke Sayer, Ellie Sayer, Lauren Sayer Kramer, Peyton Kanozik, Tyler Kanozik; her sister: Anne Scates of Warsaw, VA; and her two nieces.

Gayle graduated from Washington & Lee High School as part of the class of 1966 in Montross, VA. She graduated from Smithdeal-Massey Business College with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. Gayle attended Bon Air United Methodist Church in Richmond, VA. She retired from West End Orthopedic Clinic. Gayle was an avid reader and loved to spend time with her family. She will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Gayle’s family will be remembering her life privately. Interment will be at the family’s convenience.
