Betty M. (Hershey) Mutzer

Betty M. (Hershey) Mutzer, age 96, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Manheim, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.  Betty was born on Friday, May 28, 1926, in Manheim to the late J. Roy Hershey and Marie (Baker) Hershey.  Betty was the widow of Wilbur Martin Mutzer, whom she married on February 3, 1945, and who died on May 5, 1995.

Betty’s survivors include her daughter, Shirley Barnes; and her sister, Anna Mae Garman

Betty was a graduate of Manheim Central High School.  She retired from Sears in Park City Mall, Lancaster, after years of service working as a part-time sales associate.  She was a member of Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church, Camp Hill United Methodist Church, Women of the Moose, and General Federation of Women’s Clubs Mechanicsburg.  Betty adored the outdoors.  She liked going to her camp in Tioga County to spend time at the mountains and enjoyed a trip to Niagra Falls.  Betty cherished her family, and loved spending time with her daughter, Shirley.  Taking Sunday drives was one of their favorite things to do together.  Betty will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

All are welcome to join Betty’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Friday, September 16, 2022, from 10:45 a.m. until time of service at 11:15 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Dr. Stephen Gallaher officiating.  Betty’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service.  Burial will follow the reception in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery in Manheim.
