Carol Ann (Shore) Calderwood a.k.a. “Honeymom”, 89, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026 at her home in Mechanicsburg, PA. She was the loving wife of her high school sweetheart, the late Thomas Howard Calderwood also of Mechanicsburg, PA.
Born March 7, 1937 in Washington D.C., Carol Ann was the daughter of the late George Edward and Marjorie Agnes (Beavers) Shore. Carol Ann graduated in 1954 from McKinley Tech in Washington, D.C. along with her soon to be husband Thomas Howard Calderwood. “Carol and Tommy” were married in 1955 and moved to the Maryland suburbs where they raised a loving family before retiring to Walkersville, MD and eventually, Mechanicsburg, PA. They remained married for 62 years until Tommy passed in 2018.
Carol Ann was a devoted full-time mother in addition to working part-time as a clerk for the Potomac Electric Power Company (PEPCO), and as a cord-board operator for C&P Telephone Company of Maryland. Her passion was singing and she joined many church choirs and chorales. A highlight was performing a special concert in the Vatican for Pope John Paul II. She was also a member of the Homemaker’s Club and a musical theatre/opera company on the Washinton D.C. water front performing in The Mikado and H.M.S Pinafore. Carol Ann spent many decades of summers with her family at her beach house in Ocean City, MD enjoying crab feasts, swimming, boardwalk nights, and spoiling her grandchildren.
Carol Ann is survived by three children, Michael T. Calderwood (Dr. Colleen), Jean M. Bindl (Bill), and Stephen H. Calderwood (Meggen); two brothers, Samuel F. Shore (State Senator, Maryland, Ret.) and Russell E. Shore (Judy); three grandchildren, Edward J. Bindl (Courtney), Kimberly A. Dietrich (Todd), and Michael S. Calderwood; four great-grandchildren, Daniel, Mikayla, Hazel, and Fox; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, friends, and other relatives.
All are welcome to join Carol’s family at her viewing on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 12:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 400 Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Matthew G. Smith Celebrating. Burial will follow the service in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, MD. Carol’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Mountain Gate Family Restaurant in Thurmont, MD immediately following the burial.
