Carolyn Hilda Gajewski left this world on February 15, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on January 19, 1940, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Carolyn's journey through life was marked by her spirit, affection for family, and passion for adventure.
A proud graduate of South Hills High School, Class of 1958, she was fondly given the nickname "Termite" by her classmates. Carolyn had a meaningful career as a billing clerk, most recently dedicating thirty years of her life to Gannett Fleming before retiring in 2011.
An ardent traveler, Carolyn embraced the world, finding joy in exploring new cultures and experiences. She was an avid reader, often turning to the works of her favorite authors to immerse herself in different worlds. Her love for playing cards brought out her competitive nature, but also laughter and camaraderie to gatherings.
Carolyn loved animals deeply and found joy in their company. She also loved to dance, and enjoyed tending to her home flower gardens.
Carolyn shared a beautiful life with her beloved husband, Richard Gajewski, with whom she celebrated 67 years of love and partnership. She was a devoted mother to her two sons, David (Susie) and Daniel (Megan). She also leaves behind her sister, Marie Reichert, and numerous nieces/nephews and grandnieces/nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Catherine Miller; her brother, Richard Davis; and her sisters, Eileen Kowalski and Florence White.
Carolyn's spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched, a reminder to embrace life fully and to treasure every moment. As we bid farewell we hold close the memories that define her legacy, a steadfast light in our lives that will never dim.
In lieu of flowers, donations on Carolyn's behalf can be forwarded to The Alzheimer's Association or The Pennsylvania Association for the Blind. Any future memorial services will be announced by the family at a later date.
