Clinton Allen Orris

Clinton Allen Orris, age 89, of Mechanicsburg died on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.  Clinton was born on Friday, November 30, 1934, in Enola to the late Warren C. Orris and Dorothy M. (Reitz) Orris.  In addition to his parents, Clinton is preceded in death by his half-sister, Joan; and his daughter, Peggy J. Dellinger.

 

Clinton’s survivors include his wife of 70 years, Carol Anne (Westhafer) Orris; his four children: Debra “Deb” A. (Orris) Raudabaugh and her husband, Brian, of Carlisle, PA, Cheryl E. (Orris) Clouser and her husband, John, of Manchester, PA, Donna M. (Orris) Farris and her significant other, Thomas, of Lewisberry, PA, Linda K. (Orris) Malloy and her husband, Paul, of Dillsburg; his 11 grandchildren: Donna Rhinehart, Michele Rhinehart, John Clouser, Matthew Clouser, Melissa Schieres, Jennifer Dellinger, Rachel Dellinger, Kristi Milletics, Scott Milletics, Ryan Orris, Kelly Malloy; his 16 great-grandchildren; and his seven great great-grandchildren.

 

Clinton graduated from Enola High School as part of the class of 1952.  He retired from American Can Company, after 39 years of service working as a machine operator.   Clinton was an avid sports fan with his favorite teams being the Washington Commanders and the New York Yankees.   He had a passion for racing, and enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Indianapolis 500, as well as dirt track racing.  Clinton could frequently be found watching races at the Silver Spring Racetrack and Williams Grove Speedway.  He loved Jubilee Day in Mechanicsburg and attended every year, making it a family tradition.  Clinton had a wry sense of humor and could always get a laugh with his one-liners. He also was a lifetime member of the Mechanicsburg Men's Club.  He will be dearly missed by those fortunate enough to have known him.
