Diane Maybelle (Claypool) James, age 82, of Mechanicsburg, died on Sunday, August 24, 2025. Diane was born on Tuesday, April 13, 1943, in Worthington to the late Harry Sydney Claypool, Sr. and Maybelle Lucille (Bundy) Claypool.
Diane’s survivors include her husband of 64 years, V. “Dick” Richard James, Jr.; her three children: Richard “Rick” James and wife Lori, of Myrtle Beach, SC, Sheri Linn and husband Scott, of Pittsburg, NH, Michael “Mike” James and wife Amy, of Camp Hill; her four grandchildren: Lt. Mitchell James, Nolan James, Sophia James, Wesley James; her sister: Cathy Claypool of New Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews.
Diane graduated from Cedar Cliff as part of the class of 1961. After raising her children, Diane pursued a career in real estate, working as a realtor for Family Realty in Florida until she retired in 2005. She was a member of Shiremanstown United Methodist Church for over 20 years and participated in the card ministry. Diane enjoyed shopping and was an avid car enthusiast, having recently purchasing a Mustang convertible. She and her husband, Dick, co-founded the Central Pennsylvania Triumph Club. Diane cherished her roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She and her husband of 64 years shared a tender gesture, always holding hands. To Diane, family was everything, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to have know her.
All are welcome to join Diane’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with a service beginning at 10:30 a.m. all at Shiremanstown United Methodist Church, 125 East Main Street, Shiremanstown, PA 17011; with Pastor Jane Keller officiating. Diane’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the church immediately following the service.
