Diane Tina Smith

Diane Tina (Herrold) Smith, age 55, of Middletown passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2026. Diane was born on Wednesday, March 10, 1971, in Harrisburg to the late John Edward Herrold and Patsy (Linker) Herrold.

Diane’s survivors include her son: Shea Michael Smith and wife, Holly Ann Benish, of Mechanicsburg; her grandson, Elliot Craig Smith; her significant other, Ronald Hodge of Middletown; and her three brothers: Scott Herrold of Middletown, Dave Herrold of Halifax, and Ralph Herrold, of Middletown.

Diane loved being a MiMi to her grandson, Elliot. He was her one and only grandchild and she took immense pride in that. Taking his picture and making him smile whenever they were together. 

She also loved spending a good portion of her life being a bank teller for her community as she was a people person. 

She enjoyed spending time with her significant other, Ron, his family and their friends. 

Diane also loved her parakeet named Blue. 

If you were to ask her son Shea for three words to describe Diane, he would say resilient, social and free spirited. 

“There are some things in life we wish we could change. Words left unsaid, apologies left unspoken and forgiveness too late. Forgiveness is a beautiful thing, so beautiful that it’s light should be let in while we are still here to see it, feel it and share it with one another. But in the end, we are left with the love that remains and what could have been.”

Diane’s family will be remembering her life privately. Cremation was private.
