Donald "Don" Emory Cape

Donald “Don” Emory Cape, age 81, of Mechanicsburg, died on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. Don was born on Thursday, June 25, 1942, in Hanover to the late John Emory Cape Sr and Almeda Catherine (Kessler) Cape.  In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his three brothers: Kenneth Cape, John Cape Jr, and Henry Cape.

Don’s survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mami (Shimojima) Cape; his four children: Donald “Tony” Emory Cape Jr and his wife, Leslie, of Hanover, PA, Holly Marie Cook and her husband, Scott, of Hanover, PA,  Serena Marie (Cape) Warren and her husband, Chris, of Lancaster, PA, David Allen Cape of Sparta, NC; his ten grandchildren; his two great-grandchildren; his brother, Robert Cape and his wife, Paulette, of York, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

Don, a United States Army veteran, spent much of his working life employed by P.H. Glatfelter Company in Spring Grove, PA.  During his retirement, he enjoyed fishing, metal detecting historical sights, studying the history of early settlers, and taking care of the songbirds and squirrels in his backyard. He will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known him and most especially by his beloved feline companion, Junior.

Don’s family will be remembering his life privately.   Interment will be at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA, at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Nobody’s Cats Foundation in Camp Hill, PA. http://www.nobodyscats.org/donations.php
