Donald “Don” Humphrey passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.  He was born on September 5, 1944 with his twin brother, David, to his mother, Martha L. (Shobe) Dursky (Joe), and his father, Stanley C. Humphrey, in Kirksville, MO.  Don was raised in Lancaster, MO, Harvey, Pershing and Newton, IA.  He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandy F. (Uttecht) Humphrey; his three sons: Todd A. (Bonnie), Brian S. (Kathryn), Jason M.; and six grandchildren: TJ, Baylee, Andrew, Aydan, Jackson, Luke.  Surviving extended family includes his brother, Dan Dursky; his two sisters, Deb Dursky; and Denise Schippers; and an uncle.

Don served the U.S. Department of the Navy for 42 years, both in uniform and as a civilian.  He joined the Navy in September 1961 and served honorably for eight years.  He was awarded service medals, including the Navy Achievement Medal (with combat “V”) for accomplishments during 1968-1969 Vietnam service.  Don received numerous accolades from many foreign military forces while providing assistance under the Naval Supply Systems Command’s International Logistics Assistance Program during the period of 1969-1985.  He also received numerous Naval Material Command, Naval Supply Systems Command and Navy Fleet Material Support Office accolades and awards from 1973 until his retirement in April 2004.

Don favored St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Iowa Hawkeyes basketball and football teams.  He coached Hampden Township little league baseball and American Legion baseball.  Don enjoyed watching his sons play soccer, baseball, basketball and football.  He loved conversing with his granddaughter, Baylee, and watching her play ice hockey, and hearing symphony music composed and played by his oldest grandson, TJ.  In retirement, Don enjoyed playing golf with the Thursday Seniors at Mayapple Golf Course and another three hackers on Fridays, as well as the fall golf trip fellows.  He was a Mechanicsburg resident since late 1973 and maintained memberships in the West Shore Elks Lodge and the Mechanicsburg American Legion Post #109.
