An Outgoing Personality -

Dorothy “Dottie” Louise (Miller) Shive, age 92, of Camp Hill, passed away peacefully at Country Meadows with her family and friends by her side on Friday, August 23, 2019.  Dottie was born on December 7, 1926 in Marysville to John and Mary (Guettich) Miller.  Dottie was the widow of Robert Shive.  In addition to her parents and husband, Dottie is preceded in death by her three brothers: Robert Miller, Walter Miller, William Miller; and her sister, Bernice Fenton.

Dottie’s survivors include her loving daughter, Wendy Kay Young and her husband, Lee, of Mechanicsburg; her sister, Barbara Dougherty of Camp Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

Dottie worked at Bell Telephone, served as a receptionist for Myers Oldsmobile in Lemoyne, and retired from Sedgwick James Insurance in 1992.  She filled her retirement years with volunteering.  Dottie loved to visit people from her church that were in the hospital or rehab.  She volunteered at Bethany Village calling Bingo and really enjoyed her interactions with the folks there.  Dottie also kept active by walking over an hour each and every day; everyone in her neighborhood and at the mall knew her.  She looked forward to every July to going to Virginia Beach with her daughter.  Dottie loved watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys!  She also enjoyed going to church activities and Bible studies, and any kind of physical activity that she could find to do.  Dottie had an outgoing personality and loved being around people.
