Always Willing to Help -
Dorothy “Dottie” Louise (Lenker) Traver, age 62, of Lewisberry, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022. Dottie was born on Thursday, March 10, 1960, in Mechanicsburg to George “Pete” William Lenker, Sr. and the late Ruth Naomi (Harro) Lenker. In addition to her mother, Dottie is preceded in death by her sister, Judy Anne Lenker.
Dottie’s survivors include her husband of 42 years, Ronald “Ron” Traver; her two daughters: Tonya Ann Traver of Lewisberry and Tina Lynn (Traver) Leinberger and husband, Casey, of Lewisberry; her father, George “Pete” William Lenker, Sr. of Mechanicsburg; her two brothers: George W. Lenker, Jr. of Franklintown and Richard E. Lenker of Camp Hill; and her beloved canine companions: Addie and Sadie.
Dottie graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1979. She was employed as a bookkeeper for The Wolf Organization, LLC and Konhaus Farms, Inc. Dottie was a lifelong member of Crossroads Independent Church in Lewisberry. She was a very active member, where she served as bookkeeper. Dottie was a member of Valley Grange #1360 in Lewisberry and the Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association in Mechanicsburg. She also loved to cook delicious meals for her family, make crafts and loved to arrange beautiful bouquets of flowers. Dottie’s passion was to help people. Whether it was keeping the financial books at church, decorating the church for the holidays or filling in where needed, Dottie showed that she had a true servant’s heart. New Life for Girls in Dover was a mission for Dottie. She provided many items for the women at New Life for Girls; and she often made peanut butter eggs and bracelets, with Tina and Tonya’s help, to give out at Christmas and other holidays. Dottie made friends wherever she went. They were drawn to her by her gentle and giving spirit. Her family will remember that she was always encouraging her family to be prepared, organized and always have a backup plan. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
