Duane Everett Herman

November 30, 1947 — June 3, 2026

Mechanicsburg

Duane Everett Herman, Certified Public Accountant, passed away peacefully on June 3rd at Messiah Lifeways after a brief battle with cancer. Duane is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Susan M. He is also survived by his caring family, his son Matthew E, his daughter Kristin R., his daughter-in-law, Colleen S, his son-in-law James T, and his five grandchildren, Mallory, Madeline, Mariella, Lillian, and Benjamin. He was predeceased in death by his older brother, Robert D.

Duane was born on November 30, 1947 in Russell, Kansas. Duane and Susan met while living in Kansas City. His long and successful career as a CPA, led them to settle in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed his work as a CPA for over fifty years during which time he was an active member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Duane was a life long lover of golf, both playing with his friends at Carlisle Country Club and watching the game. Duane was almost always accompanied by one of his faithful Irish Setters. He had a passion for his various Volvos over the years. Duane and Susan enjoyed traveling with the Kansas State Alumni Association to five of the seven continents. Duane captured these trips with his photography hobby. Duane found great enjoyment when his family gathered together in the Outer Banks as a time to celebrate various occasions and successes; he ideally would do this with a drink and a cigar. Duane Herman was a solid, caring presence in all of our lives, and we will keep him in our hearts as we continue on.
