Edna S. Andrews, age 94, of Mechanicsburg, died on April 11, 2025, in Mechanicsburg. Since 2008, she resided at Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg.
Born in Nanticoke, PA on August 6, 1930, she was the daughter of Elizabeth (Dzuris) Sabol and Michael Sabol. Edna graduated from Nanticoke High School, class of 1948, and received an Associates Degree from Wilkes College (now Wilkes University).
She married Frederick W. Andrews in April of 1957. They shared 48 years of marriage until his death in 2005.
Edna was a member of Pine Street Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg for 67 years, where she was a charter member of the Century Class and served as a deacon.
As a secretary, she worked for several businesses and individuals. Throughout her life, she volunteered in the following areas: The East Shore Branch of the Dauphin County Library system, the former Harrisburg Community Theater; The Lady Keystone Golf Tournament; and was a reader for the Tri-County Association for the Blind (now Vision Resources of Central PA). She was a member and officer of the former Dauphin County Lawyers Auxiliary. She served as docent at the Governor’s Residence of Pennsylvania for more than 30 years. After moving to Bethany Village, she volunteered in the Gift Shop and other areas of campus life.
Edna enjoyed vacations and time spent with her family, and always encouraged and supported the pursuit of education. As a lifelong learner, she participated in numerous Elderhostel/Road Scholar programs. An avid reader, she enjoyed playing Bridge and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Elma Larson, who died in September of 2020.
Edna is survived by: her daughter, Amy Andrews Knupp and her husband, David, of Etters; her grandchildren: Tara Knupp Hartman and husband, Justin, of Etters; Tyler Knupp and wife, Angie, of Dover; Connor Knupp of Etters; her great grandchildren: Rylee Hartman, Jaxson Hartman and Jeremiah Knupp; and several nieces and nephews.
All are welcome to join Edna’s family at her service on Monday, April 21, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Richard D. Rife Center – East Building, Bethany Village, 325 Wesley Circle, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 with The Reverend Stuart Seelman officiating. Burial will follow the service in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill. Edna’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral & Cremation), immediately following the burial. Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of our parking lots.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in celebration of Edna’s life can be made to the Endowment Fund of Pine Street Presbyterian Church, 310 North 3rd Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101 or to Bethany Village Care Assurance Endowment Fund, 325 Wesley Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
