 A Proud Grandfather    -  

   

Edwin “Ed” F. Harne, Jr., 72, of Mechanicsburg died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Holy Spirit Hospital. He was born on May 14, 1938 in West Fairview the son of the late Edwin F. Harne, Sr. and Sara E. Laverty Harne. He married Carole on May 11, 1967.  

   

Ed retired from AMP as the Director of International Materials after over 35 years of service. He traveled frequently to over 36 countries.   He loved gardening, hunting, fishing and sprint car racing but his greatest joy was watching his granddaughter, Amanda, play softball. He was a member of Perseverance Blue Lodge, Consistory, and Zembo Temple all in Harrisburg. He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Enola. He was an avid golfer and a former member of the Carlisle Country Club.  

   

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Carole M. Harne; his son Fox E. Harne and his wife Kim and their daughter Amanda; his son Edwin F. Harne III and his wife Beverly; his daughter: Susan Solenski; his daughter Kathy Mount; his sister Barb Lowe and her husband Earnest; his uncle Charles Laverty and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Brenda Wise.  

   

All are welcome to join Ed’s family at his viewing on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 at  Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory  , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA, 17055, (717) 766-3421. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:00 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6839 Wertzville Road, Enola, PA, 17025. Pastor Anne-Rose Reeves will officiate and burial will immediately follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.  

   

The family suggests memorial contributions to his church.  

   

The family has entrusted Ed’s care and arrangements to  Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory  , (717) 766-3421.
