Eleanor “El” Marie (Stoner) Reeder, age 77, of Harrisburg, died on Monday, November 6, 2023. El was born on Thursday, September 19, 1946, in Lewistown to the late Donald Murray Stoner and Beatrice Marie (Book) Stoner.
El’s survivors include her two children: Kenneth “Ken” Bryan Biddle and his wife, Kathleen, of Etters, Kristen “Kris” (Biddle) Wilbert of Phoenixville; her six grandchildren: Hope Miller and her husband, Matthew, Kyle Biddle, Megan Biddle, Jackson Jenkins, Jameson Jenkins, Jadeson Jenkins; her 3 great-grandchildren: Landon, Cecilia, Reed; and several distant cousins.
El graduated from Juniata Joint High School as part of the class of 1964. She retired from the Public Utility Commission, after 20 years of service working as a Clerk Typist. El had a sharp mind and a talent for trivia, and could play along with many shows on her favorite channel the Game Show Network. She had a passion for music, appearing on American Bandstand several times as a teenager and could “Name That Tune.” El was a diehard Phillies fan and had a particular fondness for #20 Mike Schmidt. She loved her parents and spoke of them often and of her wonderful childhood days with them. El loved animals and her pets dearly, especially her cat Pepper and faithful beagle companion, Maxx. El always made time for family and friends, playing pinochle, horseshoes, watching Kristen play softball, and travelling to Wildwood beach every summer. She enjoyed seeing her friends and loved ones on Facebook and commenting on pictures and especially talking with her cousin Cindy and others on Messenger. She will be dearly missed.
All are welcome to join El’s family at her celebration of life open house and gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a time of remembrance at 1:30 p.m. at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral & Cremation); with Reverend George Spangler officiating. Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of the parking lots. Cremation was private.
