E. Marie (McCready) Langlotz

Faithful Witness -

E. Marie (McCready) Langlotz, age 100, of Camp Hill, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at The Oaks in Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg.  Marie was born on Saturday, April 24, 1920, in New Galilee, PA to the late John S. McCready and Sarah (Reed) McCready.  Marie was the widow of Marlin Howard Langlotz, who died on November 1, 1969.  In addition to her parents and husband, Marie is preceded in death by her two sisters:  Irene Doutt, Virginia Bright; and her three brothers:  Donald McCready, C. Pat McCready, and John “Jack” McCready.

Marie’s survivors include her caregivers: Lorraine Herman of Alexandria, Virginia, Joanie Schlusser, Karen Williams of Mechanicsburg, PA, her niece and caregiver, Charlene Ryder Shank; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marie was hired by the Pennsylvania Department of General Services on July 1, 1941, and retired on December 28, 1978, after 37 ½ years of service working as a procurement clerk in the Bureau of Purchases.  Marie took her yard work very seriously and she was known to many in Camp Hill as the white-haired woman who was always outside gardening.  She was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mechanicsburg, where she sang in the choir for years. Marie was deeply concerned about the salvation of all those she knew; and witnessing her faith to others was essential to Marie’s nature.  In that spirit, Marie loved to teach Sunday school, using the traditional Flannelgraph program.  Her love and support of her “kids” followed through adolescence and adulthood.  Until approximately age 95, Marie attended ALL of their basketball games and was their number one fan and cheerleader.  Marie’s church kids remained a big part of her life, including visiting her in later years at Bethany Village.

All are welcome to join Marie’s family at her viewing on Monday, August 10, 2020, from 11:15 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., followed by her funeral service at 12:15 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 4681 East Trindle Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.  All are invited to attend Marie’s virtual funeral service via www.EBC4Me.org/livestream at 12:15 p.m.  A graveside service and burial will follow at 1:15 p.m. in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill, PA.  Pastor Steve Crews will officiate at both services.
