Fern Elizabeth (Sanderson) Stepp

Fern Elizabeth Stepp was born in June of 1936. She passed away peacefully in her home on May 6th 2024. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Elsie Sanderson. She is preceded in death by four brothers. Buddy, Vern, Lambert, and Paul. She was the loving wife of the late James Marlin Stepp Sr. Fern is survived by her daughter, Brenda Snyder and husband Leon Snyder of Lebanon PA. Fern’s son, James Marlin Stepp Jr. passed away in August of 2018. Fern has four grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Fern was a good, caring, and loving woman. She enjoyed taking care of older people, animals, and especially cats.

In her younger years, she was an avid roller skater, a majorette and was employed as a manager at Carlisle Shoe Factory.

She loved flowers, and she especially loved her family very much. She was also a lover of all Philadelphia sports. A faithful fan of the Phillies, Flyers, Eagles, and the 76er’s. She will be sadly missed.

Anyone that would like to send flowers may do so to Buhrig Funeral Home on Main Street in Mechanicsburg.

A public viewing will be held on Monday May 13th from 10:45 am until 11:45 am. The time of service will be from 11:45 until 12:15 pm. A light lunch will be provided by the family from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm at the Buhrig Gathering Place located next to the funeral home. Graveside services will be at Churchville Cemetery located in Steelton PA immediately following the luncheon from 3:00 pm until 3:30 pm. All are welcome to join the family in celebrating Fern’s life and share memories.
