Francis Steven Shenk, lovingly known as Steve, went to be with his Savior, on Saturday February 28, 2026. His beloved wife, Carolynn Shenk, stood steadfast by his side for 42 years, their bond a testament to the power of love, companionship and shared journeys.
As a father, Steve offered unconditional love and wisdom to his children: Mydia Shenk, Michelle (Terry) Swarner, Toni Shindel, Clark (Nicole) Shindel, Jordan (Carly) Rhoades, and Megan (Christopher) Moore. Each of them carries a piece of his spirit within them, a gentle reminder of his kindness, humor, and unyielding support. Steve was especially proud of his growing legacy, which includes 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who affectionately call him "Pappy Steve."
Steve’s cherished siblings, David (Carol) Shenk and Judy Baker, fondly remember their shared youth spent tinkering in their father's junkyard and enjoying their mother's home-cooked meals and sweet treats. They honor the bond they shared throughout their lives, forever marked by the love of their late parents, Francis and Sarah Shenk. In addition to his parents, Steve was welcomed into heaven by his son, Francis "Buddy" Steven Shenk II, sister Nancy Jane Zeiders, and several relatives and close friends. They now reside together in the realm of eternal peace by a love that transcends the physical world.
Steve was born at home in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Cumberland Valley High School in 1969 and went on to retire from Lowe's after 25 years of service. During his employment, he formed lifelong friendships and was recognized for his outstanding customer service. He had a passion for crossword puzzles, classic cars, and western movies. His wife lovingly proclaims, " in my eyes, he always wore a white hat." Steve was a simple man who loved to joke and mimic the sweet sounds of his winged friends. He will be fondly remembered for his wit and sense of humor.
Memorial services will be held starting at 10:00 am Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the funeral home, followed by graveside services. All are welcome to join the family for fellowship and refreshments at the Santos Center (Bible Baptist Church in Shiremanstown) following the interment.
