Gary John Yetter, age 71, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026. Gary was born on Tuesday, August 3, 1954, in Herkimer, New York to the late John Sherman Yetter and Maxine Elizabeth (Van Sweringen) Yetter.
Gary’s survivors include his sister, Gayle Smith and her husband, Clarence, and his two nephews, Rick and David Stoner.
Gary graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1972 and began a career with Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry Comptroller Department, where his commitment and diligence earned the respect of his colleagues and the community. Gary's adventurous spirit was evident in his love for travel, with Alaska being a notable destination he visited multiple times. He embraced each journey with the same enthusiasm he brought to his hobbies, including his passion for photography, where he captured the beauty around him, preserving memories for all to treasure. Moreover, his dedication to service was clear through his volunteer efforts at Mission Central, where he contributed his time to packing food bags, embodying a spirit of giving and kindness. Gary truly valued relationships, as evidenced by the close bonds he formed with a great group of friends, friendships that have flourished over more than 50 years. He took pride in leading the “Lunch Bunch,” a gathering of his closest friends who met at Hoss' Steak and Sea House once a month on Thursdays, a tradition that speaks to his commitment to nurturing connections and fostering camaraderie. Though Gary may no longer walk among us, his spirit will continue to shine brightly in our hearts, guiding us through our own journeys as we remember the kindness and joy he brought into our lives.
