Hard Worker with a Big Heart -

George Edwin Fry, age 62, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Red Lion, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022.  George was born on Saturday, January 9, 1960, in Harrisburg to the late George Bender Fry and Mary Frances (Mountz) Fry.  In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his sister, Kathlene Ann Rhoads; and his beloved yorkiepoo, Pluto.

George’s survivors include his wife of 12 years, Lourie (Sanner) Fry; his four daughters: Heather Barnes, and husband, Michael, and their children, Alyssa and Ella of Halifax, Barbara “Barbie” Goldberger and husband, Joshua, of Camp Hill, Kelly Piegzik and husband, Joseph, and their children, Ethan and Cassidy, of Middletown, Nikki Fry and partner, Ian Harris, of Carlisle; his stepson, Khris Foust of Yeagertown; his sister, Charlene Flanagan and husband, Edward, of Ickesburg; his brother-in-law, Ronald Rhoads of Shiremanstown; several nieces and nephews; and his cherished Yorkshire terrier, Bandit.

George graduated from Central Dauphin High School as part of the class of 1978, where he attended Dauphin County Technical School and completed the automotive technology program.  He then earned an associate’s degree in car mechanics followed by his CDL.  George began his career at H.B. Reese Candy Company in Hershey followed by driving truck cross country for Kinard Trucking, Inc. out of York.  After traveling all over many states, he decided it was time to stay closer to home.  George was a truck driver for Feeser’s Food Distributors then most currently a driver turned dispatcher at Sysco Central Pennsylvania, both in Harrisburg.  He was a member of A.B.A.T.E. of PA (Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education), H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group), NRA (National Rifle Association), and Marysville Sportsmen Association & Fishing Creek Anglers.  He loved cars, motorcycles, and boating, especially on Raystown Lake.  George was known to be quite the collector of things, which varied from diecast cars to model motorcycles.  He had a soft spot for not only his family, but also his dogs: Pluto and Bandit.  George was always very proud of his daughters and treasured his grandchildren.  As his children grew up, they all enjoyed getting together for family game nights.  The girls will remember those times and how much of a jokester he was, including the endless supply of dad jokes.  Everyone who knew George will never forget how much of a hard worker he was and the big heart he shared.
