George Daniel Henry, age 76, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022.  George was born on Friday, January 18, 1946, in Mechanicsburg to the late Paul B. Henry, Sr. and Sarah (Baric) Henry.  In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his three brothers: Ronald Henry, Paul B. Henry, Jr., Gary L. Henry; and his three sisters: Betty Basehore, Shirley Bentz and Patricia Kuhn.

George’s survivors include his wife of 53 years, Judith “Judi” Ann (Taraschi) Henry; his son, Shaun Henry and his wife, Heather, of Camp Hill; his daughter, Corrin Ruggiero and her husband, Mathew, of Marysville; his three grandchildren: Katelyn Henry, Lauren Henry, Gabriella Ruggiero; and several nieces and nephews.

George graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1964.  He was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from 1965 until 1967 and served stateside during the Vietnam War.  George retired from PPL in 2009, after many years of service working as an underground utility foreman.  He had a tremendous work ethic and was very precise and detail oriented.  He loved making and fixing things and got great joy out of completing the projects that he had planned.  George appreciated God’s creations, especially nature, and loved spending time at his cabin in Mifflin County.  He liked to hunt and check his game cameras that he had placed on the mountain.  Above all else, George loved his family.  His granddaughters were his pride and joy and he cherished the time that he spent with them.  George’s wish to hear his granddaughters’ voices was fulfilled in recent years when he received his cochlear implants.  George will be deeply missed.

A celebration of George's life will be held at his beloved cabin and at the convenience of the family.
