A Wonderful Cook and Baker -
Gladys Virginia (Greegor) Manning, age 98, of Carlisle, and formerly of Churchtown, passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior with her family by her side on Saturday, January 14, 2023. Gladys was born on Tuesday, January 22, 1924, in Churchtown to the late Hubert Vincent Greegor and Hulda Estelle (Burtner) Greegor. In addition to her parents, Gladys is preceded in death by her daughter: Virginia “Ginger” Manning; and her three brothers: George, Ralph, and Roy Greegor.

Gladys was a hard worker who retired as a bus driver from the Cumberland Valley School District, after more than 33 years of service. She loved driving bus and many of the students she transported to and from school, kept in touch over the years. Gladys also cooked at the Roadway Restaurant in New Kingston, where her “World’s Best” fried chicken was a favorite of the truck drivers that stopped to eat there. Gladys served as the custodian for Keen Transportation in New Kingstown. Gladys was a lifelong member of the Churchtown Church of God. Her family fondly remembers the delicious food that she made for them as well as the Friday night game nights, filled with Parcheesi and card games. Gladys enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and loved to get in the car and travel. She often took trips to different restaurants and would drive, by herself, to North Carolina to visit family. Gladys was very artistic and created many original drawings. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
