Gloria Jean (Weiss) Michalac, age 76, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Gloria was born on Saturday, July 9, 1949, in Streator, Il, to the late Ralph Weiss and Louise (Mozalla) Weiss. In addition to her parents, Gloria is preceded in death by her daughter: Kelly (Heinz) Atkins; her siblings: Christopher Weiss, Grace Ann Natt; her granddaughter: Hayleigh Snow Heinz; her stepmother: Doris (Fitzgerald) Weiss; and her nephew: Ryan Force.
Gloria’s survivors include her husband of 35 years, John R. Michalac, Sr.; her three children: Kevin Heinz and wife Kelly, of Warrenton , VA, John Michalac, Jr. and wife Kristin, of Lewisberry; Angel Michalac and her significant other Tony Ringwood, of Camp Hill; six grandchildren: Aidan, Aislinn, Christopher, Caitey, Leah, Niki; her five great-grandchildren: Cecilia, Aiden, Kaighlee, Dakota, Carolina; her three siblings: Jaime Weiss and wife Judy, of Shippensburg, Jacki Force and husband Rob, of Hackettstown, NJ, Mary Dallmier and husband Vince, of Coconut Creek, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Gloria forged a commendable career in the Navy Depot, dedicating 37 years of loyal service before retiring on May 1, 2018. Her commitment to her work was a testament to her strong character and unwavering diligence.
Gloria was an alumna of Hunterdon Central High in Flemington, NJ, graduating in 1967. Throughout her life, she cherished family gatherings and was especially known for the biannual reunions with her cousins, where laughter and stories flowed freely, solidifying bonds that transcended time and distance.
Her passions were many, with hobbies that brought her joy and satisfaction. Gloria reveled in shopping, cooking, and dancing, often lighting up the room with her radiant spirit. She had an undeniable knack for hosting—whether it was birthdays, Christmas Eve celebrations, or simple cookouts with loved ones, her home was a sanctuary filled with warmth, love, and delicious food. A common thread throughout her life was the joy of spending time with family and friends, whether it was sharing a lunch with colleagues, friends or enjoying a friendly game of pool.
Gloria found her spiritual home within the Christ Community Church in Camp Hill, where she built lasting friendships and dedicated time to her faith. Her presence brightened the lives of many, and her compassion and kindness left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her.
Gloria's life will be honored with a viewing on January 29, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, at Buhrig Funeral and Cremation, LTD., located at 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA. Following this, a funeral service will commence at 11:30 AM, allowing all who loved her to come together to share memories and offer their farewell. After the service, friends and family are invited to celebrate her life with a reception at Buhrig's Gathering Place from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, a fitting tribute to a woman who cherished making memories with the people she loved.
