Hannah Elizabeth “Liz” Nesmith, age 90, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026. Liz was born on November 4, 1935, in Mechanicsburg to the late Coleman and Lena (Bucher) Stone. In addition to her parents, Liz is preceded in death by her brother William Stone and her sister Miriam Stone.

Liz’s survivors include her brother Sam and his wife Cynthia Stone of Dillsburg, as well as her five children: Michael “Mike” Nesmith and wife Peggy of Dillsburg, Kay Nesmith and husband George of Millsboro, DE, Paul Nesmith, Jr. and wife Suzanne of Camp Hill, David “Dave” Nesmith and wife Gretchen of Mechanicsburg, Andrew “Andy” Nesmith of Mechanicsburg; her 10 grandchildren; her 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Liz graduated from Mechanicsburg High School, Class of 1953. She played field hockey in high school. She invested her early years raising her five children. She additionally worked many years as an Avon representative and part time for Book-of-the-Month Club. She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg. In her spare time, she was a talented seamstress and enjoyed working puzzles.

Liz especially loved spending time with her family. Her favorite destination was Myrtle Beach, SC, where she spent many vacations.

Liz’s family will be remembering her life privately. Burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville will be at the family’s convenience.

Contributions in celebration of Liz’s life can be made to the American Cancer Society at American Cancer Society. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Homeland Hospice for their attentive, loving care.
