Harold Wayne Miller

Harold Wayne Miller, age 83, of Mechanicsburg, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Harold was born on Monday, August 4, 1941, in Woodbury, Pennsylvania to the late John Stewart Miller and Kathryn (Slagenweit) Miller.

Harold’s survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dianne (Cullen) Miller; his three children: Wayne Ambrose-Miller and wife Carolyn, of Welland, Ontario, Canada, Patty Patterson and husband Kirk, of New Cumberland, Deanne Miller of Mechanicsburg; his five grandchildren: Alissa Patterson, Brooke Ambrose, Emily Miller and partner Kobe Harrigan, Marli (Grace) Miller and partner Ryan Walker, Colin Patterson and fiancee Emily Garber; his two great-grandchildren, Noah and Levi; sister Joan Detwiler and husband Tom; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved feline companion: Bella.

Harold grew up in Woodbury Pennsylvania and graduated from Messiah College.  In college he sang with the Master's Quartet, and while on tour met the love of his life, Dianne, in Niagara Falls,  Canada.  Their life journey took them through a number of cities and towns in New York and Pennsylvania and then Niagara Falls, Ontario, before they returned to Pennsylvania. After working in a variety of roles including researcher, teacher, insurance adjustor, lumber yard laborer, milkman, and maintenance mechanic, he retired from Carlisle Tire and Wheel in 2005.  

All are welcome to Harold's gathering of family and friends on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the beginning of his celebration of life service  at 11:00 a.m. at Grantham Brethren in Christ Church, 421 Grantham Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastors Alan Robinson and David Flowers officiating.  An ice cream social to honor Harold's dedication to all things ice cream will follow the service.  

Harold’s family has entrusted his care to Buhrig Funeral & Cremation in Mechanicsburg, (717) 766-3421. To honor his appreciation of science and learning, and to fulfill his longstanding wish, Harold's body has been donated to science in the care of Humanity Gifts Registry, and therefore there will be no interment.  Read Harold’s full obituary, offer condolences and sympathy, share stories and memories, upload photographs and videos, light a candle and sign official guest book by visiting Buhrig.com.
