Harry Clifford Horton

Harry Clifford Horton, 87, of Hershey , and formerly of Mechanicsburg and Vero Beach , died at Life Cares Hospital, Mechanicsburg on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. He was born in Harrisburg, on Monday, December 8, 1924 son of the late Harry E. Horton and Katherine M. (Fowler) Horton.

Harry graduated from John Harris High School . He retired from Shenandoah Manufacturing in Mechanicsburg. Harry was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church in Harrisburg . He was a US Navy WW II Veteran . Harry flew over 25 flight missions in the Pacific Theatre with his last three in the Philippines. He survived floating in the Pacific Ocean for two days before being rescued. He received many numerous awards and medals during his service time. Harry raised 15 foster children in the Mechanicsburg area.

Harry’s survivors include his loving son Myron McCurdy and his wife Janice of Hershey; four grandchildren, Emily, David, Elizabeth and Matthew McCurdy. Among those preceding Harry in death are his siblings, Ronald Horton, Shirley Ruppert and Patsey Foy.

Cremation and services will be private and at the family’s convenience.
