Hattie “Pat” Marie (Maines) Smith

Always Upbeat and Smiling -

Hattie “Pat” Marie (Maines) Smith, age 85, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.  Hattie was born on Tuesday, April 13, 1937, in Carlisle to the late Oscar Norman Maines and Anna Mary (Shirley) Maines.  Hattie was the widow of Wesley R. Smith, whom she married in 1985, and who died on November 22, 2006.  In addition to her parents and husband, Hattie is preceded in death by her son, Kevin Rudy; her daughters: Deborah Rudy and Brenda Brajkovich; her sister Marian Myers; and her great granddaughter, Alivia Mitten.

Hattie’s survivors include her three daughters: Denise L. Rudy of Carlisle; Diane L. Mitten of Shermans Dale; Karen S. Woodcook and her husband, Doug, of Butler; her seven grandchildren: Gregory Rudy; Craig Rudy and his wife, Amanda; Theresa Robertson; Jennifer Constable and her husband, Fred; Laura Anderson and her husband, Kyle; Jeffrey Mitten and his wife, Jaimie; Brandon Rudy; her 21 great-grandchildren; her great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Hattie worked for Owego Frocks in Mechanicsburg for many years.  She liked spending time at SpiriTrust Lutheran Life and was always upbeat and smiling.  Hattie loved music and loved to dance.  Her favorite types of music to listen to were country and Motown of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s and her favorite song was “Wooly Bully”.  More than anything else, Hattie loved her family.  She greatly enjoyed family game nights and family picnics.  Hattie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

All are welcome to join Hattie’s family at her viewing on Monday, December 19, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant Patti Vogl officiating.  Hattie’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the burial.  Burial will follow the service in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill.  Honored to be pallbearers are: Joey Gabner, Gregory Rudy, Craig Rudy, Brandon Rudy, Rusty Wheeler, and Douglas Woodcook.
