Jacqueline "Jackie" Elizabeth (Wirt) Scott

Jacqueline “Jackie” Elizabeth Scott, aged 81, of Mechanicsburg, peacefully passed away on April 24, 2026. Born on February 25, 1945, in Walker Township, Juniata County, PA, Jackie was the beloved daughter of the late Bernal "Red" Wirt and Ruth Benner Wirt. She was the devoted widow of John Dale Scott, married in 1967, who passed away in 2019. Jackie also preceded in death by her sisters Sandy Quinlan and Linda McNertney.

She is lovingly remembered by her sons Richard “Rich” Scott (and wife Sherry) of Jacksonville, NC, and Christopher “Chris” Scott (and fiancée Renee Walker) of Stewartstown, PA. Jackie was a proud grandmother to Madeline and Zachary Scott. She is also survived by her sister Carolyn Gearhart of Mechanicsburg, numerous nieces and nephews, and her faithful dog, Rico.

A 1963 graduate of Juniata Joint, Jackie dedicated over 20 years at Liberty Mutual as a mailroom attendant. Known for her creativity and love of gardening, she once made ceramics and later became a familiar and cherished figure in her neighborhood, often seen tending her yard and chatting with neighbors. Jackie was a warm, social soul who enjoyed running an in-home daycare, participating in a gardening club, maintaining her gym group at Planet Fitness, and attending cousin luncheons. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

All are welcome to join Jackie’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George Spangler celebrating. Jackie’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service. Interment will take place at Mechanicsburg Cemetery privately.
