James “Jim” R. Fulkerson, age 82, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Wayne County, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, surrounded by family. Jim was born on February 18, 1944 in Honesdale, Pennsylvania to the late Rex Ivan Fulkerson and Elsie L. (Moules) Fulkerson.

After serving in the Marine Corps, Jim spent 23 years with the Pennsylvania State Police before retiring and finishing his career working for Wayne County Domestic Relations and Sheriff Department.  Jim spent most of his life in Honesdale, a place he truly loved.

A long-time member of Honesdale Golf Club, Jim "Bones" as known to many friends, enjoyed his time at the club; always a place where he found laughs, good friends and a beverage or two.

Jim was an adoring husband and loving father who's life modeled integrity, involvement and guidance. Jim was a man of few words until it came to his 6 grandchildren who loved their "Poppy." One by one, oldest to youngest, each one stole his heart.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his grandson: Jonathan Cardile, his sister, Elsa "Corky" Myers, and his brother, Robert "Bob" Moules.

Jim’s survivors include his wife of 26 years, Terri "Sweet Pea" Fulkerson; his son Jim Fulkerson and wife, Tammy, of Tunkhannock; his daughters: Nicole Miller of Enola, Amanda Cardile of Enola, Diane Cardile and wife, Abbey, of Mechanicsburg; his five grandchildren: Alyvia Henneman, Ian Miller, Samantha Miller, Nicholas Henneman, and Morgan Cardile.

Jim’s family will be celebrating his life at a later date and would like to extend their utmost gratitude to Jessica, Kate, Kathy and Amedisys Hospice for the care they provided Jim and his family during the last months.  Please check back at Buhrig.com for more information. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Mechanicsburg will be at the family’s convenience.
