Clara “Jane” (Long) Riegel, 77, of Mechanicsburg died at Holy Spirit Hospital on Monday, June 18, 2012. She was born in Wood, PA on Friday, July 20, 1934, the daughter of the late Clinton George Long and Gertrude Alice Long. Jane was the wife of Palmer Eugene Riegel whom she married on April 30, 1960.
Jane graduated from Robertsdale High School in Huntingdon County, PA, as part of the class of 1952. She retired from Byerly Insurance Company in Lemoyne working as a bookkeeper. Jane was a “mom” to everyone and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved watching sports, especially baseball. Jane also loved reading and going to the casinos with her husband.
Jane’s survivors include her loving husband of 52 years Palmer; two sons, Mickey Kenneth Riegel of New Cumberland and Roger Eugene Riegel and his wife Amy of Mechanicsburg; 4 grandchildren: Roxie, Kelsey, Leah, and Noah; two great-granchildren, Lele and Jamal; a brother Mervin Long and his wife Bernadette of Brookwood, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Jane in death are five brothers and three sisters.
All are welcome to join Jane’s family at her visitation on Friday, June 22, 2012, from 6:00 until time of service at 7:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, 17055, with Thomas Matthews as celebrant. Burial of her cremated remains will be held on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 11:00 in Mechanicsburg Cemetery .
