Loving Mother, Grandmother, & Sister -

Janet Marie (Bowers) Nelson, age 91, of Mechanicsburg, was taken by the angels on Sunday, March 6, 2022 to rejoin the love of her life, Harold J. Nelson, Jr., in heaven.  Janet was born on Thursday, December 25, 1930, in Harrisburg to the late Benjamin Bowers and Elsie (Dare) Bowers.  Janet was the widow of Harold J. Nelson, Jr., whom she married on April 14, 1951, and who died on October 24, 1985.  In addition to her parents and husband, Janet is preceded in death by her brother, Gene Bowers.

Janet’s survivors include her daughter, Natalie A. Guise and husband, Mark, of Harrisburg; her two sons: Harold J. Nelson III and wife, Linda, of Dillsburg and Craig A. Nelson and wife, Tammy, of Mechanicsburg; her four grandchildren: Jessica Nelson, Benjamin Guise, Chris Nelson, and Dylan Nelson; her two sisters: Caroline Brown and Barb Wagner; her two brothers: Roger Bowers and Jerry Bowers; and several nieces and nephews.

Janet was a 1948 graduate of John Harris High School and retired from the insurance industry.  She was a Charter Member of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Mechanicsburg with over 50 years of service.  She was an active member of the Mechanicsburg Museum Association and the Mothers of Twins club, more recently known as KMOM.

All are welcome to join Janet’s family on Friday, March 11, 2022 for her memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 130 Nittany Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with The Reverend Alex Martini officiating.  Janet’s family invites everyone to join them for a greeting of guests and reception immediately following the service.  Burial will follow the reception in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg.  Honored to be pallbearers are Chris Nelson, Craig Nelson, Dylan Nelson, Harold J. Nelson III, Benjamin Guise and Doug Seng.
