Jeffrey "Big Jeff" Alan Hoke

June 23, 1970 — October 30, 2023

Jeffrey “Big Jeff” Alan Hoke, age 53, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023.  Jeff was born on Tuesday, June 23, 1970, in Harrisburg to Cheryl Lee (Weber) Hoke and the late Frank Alan Hoke.  In addition to his parents, Jeff is preceded in death by his nephew, Jens Volinskie.

Jeff’s survivors include his loving wife of 28 years, Laura Lynn (Giardullo) Hoke; his two daughters: Brianna “Bri” E. Hoke of West Pennsboro, Dana E. Hoke and her partner, Lee Deihl, of West Pennsboro; his mother, Cheryl Lee (Weber) Hoke; his two siblings: Doug Weber and his wife, Mary, of Camp Hill, and Kimberli Volinskie and her husband, Kevin, of Hummelstown; his sister-in-law, Angela Doland and her husband, Steven, of Camp Hill; his father-in-law and mother-in-law; Samuel and Debra Giardullo; his nephew, Ryan Doland; his niece, Madelynn Doland; and many friends.

Jeff graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1988.  He was a member of the Mechanicsburg Club and he served as an equipment specialist for 20 years at the Naval Support Activity Mechanicsburg.  He was a friend to all, and was there for others at any time.  Although he would not admit it, he was a real handyman who was frequently helping his neighbors with their yardwork, his parents with anything they needed, and his mother after the death of his father.  Jeff was forever attentive to his two girls, Bri and Dana, and he ensured that they became self-sufficient women who knew that they were loved and cared for.  Jeff liked to camp, especially with his beloved wife, Laura, as they enjoyed making happy memories at Sunbury Airport Campground.  Fellow campers may remember Jeff and Laura riding around the grounds in their “sketchy” golfcart.  He was a die-hard fan of both the Pittsburgh, Penguins and the Las Vegas, Raiders.  Jeff had specific tastes: he enjoyed his ice-cold IPAs from a hand-washed glass, he loved listening to live music and his music collection on vinyl, and he enjoyed cooking using his Weber smoker and grill.  He will be dearly missed by all who were lucky enough to have known and loved him.

All are welcome to join Jeff’s family at his celebration of life open house with food and fellowship on Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral & Cremation).  Guests will be invited to share a memory or story of Jeff periodically during the open house.  Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of the parking lots.  Cremation was private.
