A Very Giving Person -

Jenice “Shi” Louisa (Ballard) Brown, age 70, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022.  Shi was born on Thursday, December 20, 1951, in Carlisle to the late Constance E. (Jackson) Turner.  In addition to her mother, Shi is preceded in death by her beloved canine and equine companions, Tag, Bear, Skippy and Zippy.

Shi’s survivors include her daughter, Nickole Bernadette Johnson and her husband, William, of Harrisburg; her three grandchildren: Audrey Johnson, Robert Johnson and Brent Johnson; her two great-grandchildren, Alanah and Kobe; her special friend, Vicki Kohls and her husband, Stephen, of Mechanicsburg; her good friends: Gail, Deb and Pam; all of the wonderful people that she met along her travels; and her beloved canine, Bronson; and equine companion, Buddy.

Shi graduated from Carlisle High School as part of the class of 1971.  She retired from the New Cumberland Army Depot in New Cumberland, after many years of service working as a computer programmer.  Shi was a long-time member of Jehovah Witness Congregation of Mechanicsburg.  She was to say the least, very adventurous and embraced what life had to offer.  She enjoyed eating delicious food and loved to ride her motorcycle.  Shi visited every state in the United States on her motorcycle and even visited Key West.  On her travels she has met many people over the years and has become friends with them.  People were drawn to Shi because of her kindness, generous spirit and her great sense of humor.  Shi loved horses and worked at the Carlisle Fairgrounds training horses for harness racing.  Like riding her motorcycle, she met many people in the horse riding community that became her friends.  Her beloved Bronson, like Tag and Bear, was her constant companion and she loved to spoil him.  Shi will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Shi’s family will be remembering her life privately.  Cremation was private.

Contributions in celebration of Shi’s life can be made to a charity or organization of one’s choosing.

Shi’s family has entrusted her care to Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory in Mechanicsburg, (717) 766-3421.  Read Shi’s full obituary, offer condolences and sympathy, share stories and memories, upload photographs and videos, light a candle and sign her official guest book by visiting Buhrig.com.
