John Reid George

John passed peacefully with with his children in attendance, John George, Jr, David (Diane) George, Ellen Smith and her son David, after a full and vibrant life. He is predeceased by an infant daughter Anne, his wife, Jean Ballard George and his siblings, Austin, James and Mary. Burial will be after a ceremony in Homewood Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA.

He was a Lt. Commander in the US Navy and served in Japan and later in the Naval Reserves. He was known for his dry humor and keeping an eye on everything around him. He and Jean enjoyed singing in the New Dominion Chorale and the Harrisburg Choral Society. He cherished his three grandchildren, David Smith, Maggie Pringle and her husband Dustin, and Kelly Smith. 

We appreciate the loving, personal care given to John and Jean at Bethany Village. Contributions in memory of John's life can be made to one's charity of choice.
