John “Jack” Clydesdale Mitchell
John “Jack” Clydesdale Mitchell, age 86, of York Springs, and formerly of Trevose, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2020. Jack was born on Sunday, December 10, 1933, in Philadelphia to the late Leslie Thomas Mitchell and Freda (O’Donnell) Mitchell. In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his two granddaughters: Sarah Mitchell and Erica Mitchell; his brother, Leslie Mitchell, Jr.; and his sister, Peggy Dean.
Jack’s survivors include his wife of 34 years, Geraldine “Gerri” Rose (Ferry) Mitchell; his four sons: John “Jack” Leslie Mitchell and wife, Betsy, of Trevose; Thomas “Tommy” Mitchell, of Oregon; Gary P. Mitchell and wife, Jeannie, of Trevose; James “Jimmy” Mitchell and wife, Joanne, Pensacola, Florida; his daughter, Peggy Elgert and husband, James, of Trevose; his step-son, William “Bill” Leo Griesser and wife, Amanda, of Langhorne; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his former spouse and the mother of his children, Dorothy Finnegan Mitchell Wiley and her husband, David, of Langhorne.
Jack was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Korea. He was a longtime volunteer for the Trevose Heights Rescue Squad and also worked as a tool and die maker for The American Can Company until his retirement in 2000. Jack enjoyed gardening, cooking, and riding his motorcycle.
Jack’s family will be celebrating his life privately. Cremation was private.
