John “Steve” Steven Minter

An Outdoorsman Extraordinaire -

John “Steve” Steven Minter, age 70, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021.  Steve was born on Friday, March 24, 1950, in Mechanicsburg to the late John Richard Minter and Patricia Elizabeth (Fisher) Frederick.  In addition to his parents, Steve is preceded in death by his brother, Richard Lee Minter.

Steve’s survivors include his wife of 46 years, Carol Ann (Miller) Minter; his daughter, Lindsey Ann Reigle and husband, Matthew, of Harrisburg; his two grandchildren: Troy David Vogelsong and Ashley Jean Reigle; his two siblings: Geoffrey Owen Minter and wife, Laura, of Mechanicsburg, Linda Kaye Clepper and husband, Richard, of Lititz; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved pets: Jessy, Connor and Sage.

Steve graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1968. He was a veteran having proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.   He retired from Desousa Brown in Harrisburg, after 20 years of service working as a Maintenance Supervisor.  Fishing was Steve’s passion.  He loved fishing on the Susquehanna River, the Juniata River and on Raystown Lake.  Steve was an avid hunter, and hunted with his bow and rifle.  He was a member of the Mechanicsburg Sportsmen's Association, The Mechanicsburg Club and the Overview Anglers Club.  Steve was self-reliant and a traditionalist, he prided himself in being able to fix anything; or make whatever he needed.  He enjoyed tinkering with his boat, or anything else that needed fixing. He loved to spend time at his cabin in Huntingdon County with his family and friends.  Spending time with his pets and his family brought him great joy.

Steve’s immediate services will be private while family and friends are encouraged to remain safely at home.  A celebration with family and friends will be announced at a later date.  Cremation was private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in celebration of Steve’s life can be made to Overview Anglers Club, PO Box 216, Bainbridge, PA 17502.

Steve’s family has entrusted his care to Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory in Mechanicsburg, (717) 766-3421.  Read Steve’s full obituary, offer condolences and sympathy, share stories and memories, upload photographs and videos, light a candle and sign his official guest book by visiting
