Katharine “Kay” Elizabeth (Dietz) Kouvaras, 91, of Arnold, MD and formerly of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Wyandotte, MI , died on Monday, June 25, 2012. She was born in Mechanicsburg, on Saturday, October 30, 1920, daughter of the late John Wilbur Dietz, Sr. and Alda May (Strock) Dietz. Kay was the widow of Nicholas John Kouvaras whom she married on November 23, 1962.
Kay graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1938 and she attended Shippensburg Secretarial College . She was a former, long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Mechanicsburg. Kay loved music with all her heart. She greatly enjoyed playing piano and listening to both church and classical music. Kay was a giving person with an eternally kind soul.
Kay’s survivors include her loving daughters, Joanna K. Ostrowski of Maryland and Maria Hoshow of Kentucky; five grandsons; two granddaughters; one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Kay in death are two brothers, John Dietz, Jr. and Donald Dietz and one sister, Dorothy Shannon.
All are welcome to join Kay’s family at her viewing on Monday, July 2, 2012, from 1:00 until time of service at 2:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Pastor Michael V. Minnix officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsburg. Kay’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship immediately following the burial at West Main Family Restaurant.
