Kathleen "Katie" Lee (Queensberry) Grant

Kathleen “Katie” Lee (Queensberry) Grant, age 89, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Oakland, NJ, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023.  Katie was born on Saturday, February 10, 1934 in Newport News, VA to the late Roland Lee Queensberry and Virginia Lee (Mailander) Queensberry.  Katie was the widow of Walter T. Grant, whom she married in 1957, and who died in October 1977.  In addition to her parents and husband, Katie is preceded in death by her son, David Walter Grant and her brother, Roland “Duke” L. Queensberry.

Katie’s survivors include her two children: Nancy Lee Pica and husband, Michael J. Pica, III, of Mechanicsburg; Christopher “Chris” Roland Grant and wife, Cathleen, of Georgetown, TX;  her three grandchildren: Michael J. Pica, IV of New York, NY, Leeann Sheely and husband, Logan, of Carlisle, and Ginna Grant of Georgetown, TX; her two great-grandchildren: Lachlan Sheely and Weslyn Sheely; and sister:  Virginia “Ginny” Knott of Claymont, DE; and several nieces and nephews.

Katie was a proud graduate of Penn State University, class of 1956 with a degree in Physical Education. She taught elementary physical education which she regarded as a labor of love, for over 25 years.  After her retirement, she became an avid traveler visiting countries on every continent except Antarctica. She loved sharing photos of her adventures with family and friends.  She was very fond of her grandchildren and loved spending time and having fun with them.

All are welcome to join Katie’s family at her Celebration of Life Open House with Food on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a Time of Remembrance beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 with Celebrant George Spangler officiating.  Cremation was private.
