Kathryn "Kathy" Evelyn (Lersch) Yingling, age 81, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Kathy was born on Monday, May 21, 1945, in Pittsburgh to the late Emil William Lersch and Kathryn Evelyn (Quinn) Lersch. Kathy was the widow of Dana "Dan" Ray Yingling, Sr., whom she married on June 30, 1973, and who died on October 8, 2022. In addition to her parents and husband, Kathy is preceded in death by her sister, Sally Jane Lersch, and her beloved feline companion, Izek.
Kathy’s survivors include her three children: Dana Yingling, Jr., Daryl Yingling both of Mechanicsburg and Diana Blevins and husband, Mark, of Parkton, Maryland; her two beloved granddaughters: McKenzie and Julianna Blevins; her two siblings: William "Billy" Lersch and wife, Jinny, and Margaret Lersch; and several nieces and nephews.
Kathy graduated from Penn Hills High School, as part of the class of 1963. A devoted homemaker, Kathy enveloped her family with love and warmth. She was known for her generous spirit and her ability to make friends wherever she went. Her engaging personality and quick wit charmed all who had the privilege of knowing her, leaving a lasting impact on those around her.
Kathy was an avid reader, often found engrossed in the pages of novels by her favorite authors, Debbie Macomber and Danielle Steel. Her love for literature was matched only by her passion for classic television and songs of the golden oldies, which filled her weekends with nostalgia and joy. She could often be seen enjoying the simple pleasures of life — sitting on her porch with a warm cup of coffee and a good book, her laughter echoing in the breeze. Kathy was known as a "regular" at several local diners and loved to chat with the waiters.
Throughout her life, Kathy was a steadfast friend and a source of unconditional love and support for her family. Her presence will be sorely missed, but her memory will always bring smiles to our hearts.
All are welcome to join Kathy’s family at her viewing on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George Spangler officiating.
